One of the two most rewarding things about artist collaboration is getting to make new friends and making something cool with old friends. Today’s post focuses on Kyle McQueen, an amazingly talented new friend we’ve met through Gup Gups, and Kyla Day a wonderful longtime friend we’ve been looking for an excuse to work with for years.

Kyle Mcqueen

Kyle McQueen is an artist, animator, musician, award winning filmmaker and Art Director for Nexon America. He moved to Vancouver immediately after graduating with honors from the Sheridan College Classical Animation program and dove headfirst into the television animation industry doing everything from character design to storyboarding to animation. Eventually Kyle turned to games for a change of scenery and has been involved in a number of titles and diverse projects and continues to look for opportunities to expand his portfolio and push him into new and exciting directions, such as the Gup Gup vinyl toy project!

Kyla Day

Originally from Toronto, Kyla now runs a successful design company in Vancouver as an interface and graphics designer, motion graphics compositor and photographer. She has an eclectic background that includes a degree in Anthropology, a diploma in Interactive Design, and several summers spent teaching sailing. Kyla worked at Electronic Arts for several years, where she contributed to a number of games including SSX: On Tour, NHL, Skate and Need For Speed. Today, her clients include ad agencies, music publishers, film producers, not for profits, and lions, tigers and bears. Kyla recently provided photography for the Leo award-winning short film Wood if.
When she’s not working, Kyla enjoys crocheting, cryptic crosswords, and nuzzling furry allergen-filled animals. Despite never having had either a nose-bleed or a cavity Kyla remains fairly certain she is not a robot.
