A rainy fall day in our Vancouver studio proved to be the perfect time to customize a mini diy gup gup. Below is a little step by step of what’s happened to this little guy so far.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen some wonderful black and white Gup Gups from some very talented members of our artist community. So, we thought it would be a good idea to do a little step by step post on one technique to achieve some black and white coolness. Take a look at the steps below to see the creation of Mummy Gup Gup! …and don’t forget, many more tutorials are available at www.gupgups.com.

Gup Gups is very much a team effort. From our animator, to our computer graphics modelers, to our technical team, to our motion graphics wizard, to our manufacturers, to our writers, to our illustrators, to our launch host, everyone puts a ton of effort and caring into every part of Gup Gups. So, for those of you coming to the launch, it delights me to inform you that that same care is put into the food and drink being served. We’ve brought on wonderful local caterers Swallow Tail!!!

Swallow Tail is well known to our local foodies for sourcing the best ingredients from our best local farms and wineries and putting them together in the most exquisite creations. Chef Robin is in her own words “Obssesed with food and wine,” she literaly stalks farmers’ markets and the B.C. wilderness itself! We’ve sampled many of Chef Robin’s creations and we can testify that you’re in for a wonderful experience – just don’t forget about Gup Gup while you’re snacking!!!!

With the Gup Gups Launch only a week a way (checkout our events section for details), we thought it’d be a good time for another little glimpse behind the scenes. If you’ve been following the blog, you’ve  already met Gup Gup and Nemesis; but, the Gupiverse is filled with other characters. Below is a little piece of concept art showing a few hints of some of the new friends we’ll be introducing.

Gup Gup!

When I got the images of the first production and custom Gup Gups, it was like a million birthday presents at once. It took a long time for us to get to the point where an idea, a ton of passion and general good vibes became a physical reality.

Take a peek at some of the various behind the scenes doodles that gave life to Gup Gups. The creative process behind Gup Gups has always been full of play. We decided early on that if we loved what we were making and had fun making it that people would see that and love it too. These early ball-point pen sketches still make me giggle.
